PLEASE NOTE: Auditions for this production are open only to adults age 55 and above as of the audition date. No exceptions.
Set in the 1590s, brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rock star known as "The Bard." When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first musical. But amidst the scandalous excitement of opening night, the Bottom Brothers realize that reaching the top means being true to thine own self, and all that jazz. Something Rotten Sr. is an edited version of the full production. Performed entirely by a cast of those 55 and above, this is an MTI Junior version of the show and will run approximately 1 hour.

AUDITION LOCATION:

AUDITION FORMAT
All those auditioning will be asked to sing and also to participate in a simple movement/choreography audition.
For the vocal audition, you are welcome to sing any song from the show and we have provided lots of options and backing tracks that you can access HERE. (These will also be the callback songs.)
If you choose to sing a song from the show linked above, for each excerpt in that file you will find three items: sheet music for the song, an accompaniment track that includes the guide vocals, and a backing track that is just the rhythm section. During the audition, we will play the backing track for you while you sing, IF you choose one of the songs from that file.
You do not have to audition with a song from the show linked above. You may also choose whatever song you would like (no longer than 60 seconds).
If choosing your own song, please bring sheet music for a piano accompanist in a three ring binder or you are welcome to bring an audio backing track for the song you choose.
If bringing an audio backing track, we will have a speaker set up to play the track, but you are responsible for bringing the track with you to auditions and you must comfortable operating it on your own.
There will be no acapella auditions allowed.
