BIPOC Application Assistance Program

VACT is proud to announce The BIPOC Application Assistance Program. This program provides a combination of mentorship and financial assistance to teens of color who have participated in VACT programs and are in the process of applying to and selecting colleges, training, or trade programs.

To be eligible for this program you must be:

·       A high school student who identifies as Black, Indigenous or a Person of Color on track for graduation.

·       Planning on enrolling in a post-secondary institution, training, or trade program. Any program interest area is eligible. Intent to participate in an arts program is not required.

·       Must be a past participant in a VACT production or another VACT program.

To Apply:

1.     Fill out this form or send an email to CEDI@VACT.org indicating your interest in the program

2.    Our CEDI Chair will schedule a conversation with you to learn more about your goals, plans, and needs. In this conversation we will talk to you about:

  • Your experience with VACT and how it has impacted you

  • Your goals and aspirations for the upcoming year

  • Your specific assistance needs (e.g. application fees, program travel costs, application/audition equipment costs, help with the process of applying to school)

If selected, the program could award two primary means of support. Recipients could receive support in one or both areas.

1.      Mentorship and Guidance:  Recipients will be paired with a Peer Mentor that will meet virtually with the recipient to assist in answering questions and provide insights about application processes, tips, and advice to successfully select and apply for admission into a program. The mentor may offer assistance with song selection, choreography, reading essays, etc. Costs for Mentors time or work will be covered by VACT up to $500

2.      Financial Assistance: Recipients will be able to receive up to $500 that may be applied toward various expenses incurred during the recipient’s application process for their chosen program. Eligible expenses may include (but are not be limited to):

·       Exam Registrations

·       Application Fees

·       Audition Fees

·       Travel Expenses

·       Other relevant expenses (e.g. program specific equipment, musical accompaniment, choreography needs)

·       Mentors

The BIPOC Application Assistance Program will remain open until funds have been dispersed. It opens each year in September and runs through April. Contact CEDI@vact.org if you have any questions!
