Winter 2026 Youth Dance Performance Workshops
Lights up. Music on. Time to perform!
We’re excited to offer musical theater dance performance workshops for youth performers in Grades 2–5 and Grades 6–8. These high-energy workshops focus on turning choreography into confident, expressive performances through technique, musicality, storytelling, and stage presence, helping performers bring their movement to life on stage.

Classes are held at the Dee Baldock Performing Arts Center: 103 Lincoln Street, Verona (VACT Building)
Workshops will be offered twice, with different choreography each session. Each workshop offers a unique routine and performance experience. Students may register for one or both workshops.
All workshops must have 5 participants to run.

Grades 2-5:
Youth Musical Theater Dance Performance Workshops
Price: $25 per workshop

Lights up - it’s time to dance and perform!
This fun, high-energy musical theater workshop helps young performers turn choreography into a confident, exciting performance. Performers will learn an engaging routine while building coordination, timing, and basic dance technique in a supportive, upbeat environment.
Students will explore how facial expression, energy, and movement help tell a story on stage. Through playful exercises and group choreography, students will practice spacing, transitions, and performing as part of an ensemble. all while gaining confidence and learning how to shine in front of an audience.
These workshops are perfect for kids who love to move, imagine, and perform. whether they’re brand new to musical theater dance or already love being on stage.

Dance Big. Perform Bigger!
Take your dancing beyond the steps and into full performance mode. This musical theater workshop focuses on turning choreography into a polished, expressive stage performance. Performers will learn a dynamic routine while strengthening technique, musicality, timing, and control.
Students will dive deeper into stage presence, storytelling, transitions, and ensemble awareness, learning how emotion, character, and intention shape movement. Emphasis will be placed on performing with confidence, clarity, and commitment - the skills that make musical theater choreography truly stand out on stage.
Ideal for middle school dancers who want to grow as performers, build confidence, and bring their dancing to life with purpose and personality.
Alexa Schaefer
Alexa is thrilled to be back at VACT this winter, teaching the Youth Dance Performance Workshops and the Broadway Series dance classes. She is currently a resident dancer with Legacy Dinner Theater in Wisconsin Dells. Alexa has been involved with VACT both on stage and behind the scenes since she was 5-years-old. Most recently at VACT, she directed and choreographed Matilda JR. Alexa also choreographs at Monona Grove High School, where she has received Jerry Awards for Outstanding Choreography for her work on Beauty and the Beast and The Wizard of Oz. She also received a Jerry award for her work on VACT’s high school production of Mean Girls. Alexa has years of training in various dance styles, including Jazz, Tap, Musical Theater, Ballet, Contemporary, and more. She can't wait to dance with you this winter!
