DIRECTOR'S NOTES

I am thrilled to have directed VACT's production of State Fair. It has been an incredible opportunity for our group. The rights to perform this show on a community level were just recently released for production to theater groups. This has given us the opportunity to be the first group in this area to do this show.
State Fair was put to music over 50 years ago by the beloved Rodgers and Hammerstein. They wrote the songs that will touch your hearts, many of which I am sure you will recognize and be humming when you leave the theater tonight.
The show is set in Iowa in 1946. It is about one family's journey to the state fair. It takes you back to the time when family was the most important thing and going to the state fair was the highlight of the year. In a corny kind of way, it reminds you how important family is and how much a family can accomplish when they work together.
This show has reminded me just how fortunate I am to have such a terrific family. My husband, Jeff, and daughters, Emily and Sarah, are so very special and mean the world to me. I am very fortunate to have been raised with tender loving care by my parents, Tom and Pat Jones. They are still always there for me and that always warms my heart.
I'm also lucky to have found such a wonder family of friends with VACT. Everyone in this group truly cares about each other and works very hard to get the job done and continue to produce wonderful performances for the Verona area. Working with this cast and crew has been very memorable. My fond wishes go out to  each and everyone of you. Special thanks go to Dee Baldock for her unending love and spirit, and to Jeannie Pitsch for assisting me and keeping me on track.
Thank you for coming, enjoy the show, and I hope that you leave feeling wondrous things about your families. Now...sit back and have a great time at the fair!
